Withings wants new users to pay $100 a year to sync with Apple Health
The smart health company is gating third-party app syncing to its own subscription plan for new users.
Subscription Requirements
Withings has implemented a policy change affecting new customers. According to support documentation, Withings is gating the ability for users to sync their data with Apple Health behind its proprietary subscription service. Existing users remain unaffected, but accounts created after October 13 require a Withings+ membership to automatically connect information to Apple Health or similar third-party applications. The Withings+ plan costs $100 annually.
Customer Response
The update has drawn criticism from users objecting to the additional charge for basic integration features. An official company response confirmed the modification, noting that automatic synchronization to third-party platforms is now bundled exclusively with Withings+ memberships. Without the subscription, new users must manually export and upload their health history to access data on external platforms.
Withings manufactures high-end connected health hardware, including the Body Scan 2 scale priced at $600, alongside mid-range models retailing for $280.
