Streaming Surge
British singer Cliff Richard is enjoying an unexpected resurgence at the age of 86 after his classic track was featured in the GTA 6 Extended Look on Netflix, though the scale of the Rockstar Games phenomenon remains unfamiliar to him.
Devil Woman is a 1976 single from his album I'm Nearly Famous, which previously received a popularity bump after appearing in the 2017 film I, Tonya. However, the reach of Grand Theft Auto 6 dwarfs previous milestones ahead of what is widely projected to be a massive entertainment launch.
Following the video's release, streaming figures for Devil Woman surged by 325% daily. Despite the dramatic metrics, the artist himself admits he does not fully grasp the nature of the platform driving his renewed visibility.
Artist Reaction
In an interview with publication sources, Richard acknowledged he was unfamiliar with the franchise despite Rockstar securing licensing rights to include the track in the upcoming game's expansive soundtrack.
Family members quickly alerted him to the feature, noting that his younger relatives were surprised by the vocal delivery. The singer initially referred to the interactive medium as a major television game show.
While his understanding of modern gaming culture is limited, the octogenarian expressed satisfaction that his catalog continues to resonate with contemporary audiences.
The artist noted that new exposure helps counter the perception that his catalog belongs strictly to the past, emphasizing that historical work forms the foundation of modern culture.
Soundtrack and Release
Rockstar recently detailed selections from the upcoming virtual radio stations in Vice City, confirming a mix of classic records alongside contributions from modern musicians such as Yung Lean and Travis Scott.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled for official release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles.
