Switch 2 Release Details
Hoyoverse is bringing its intergalactic life simulation game, Petit Planet, to the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. The free-to-play title is scheduled to debut on PC, iOS, and Android on December 4, 2026, before making its way to the upcoming Nintendo console.
Gameplay Features Revealed
The news came as part of a special update from Hoyoverse, which also gave a deep dive into some of the Petit Planet neighbors players can encounter, the home decor features, and some of the mini-games available as they live their life in Starsea. Players start out taking care of their own planet, but can then explore the little islands in the skies around Starsea or visit the hub-style Galactic Bazaar for things like in-game auctions and community features.
Early Impressions
Petit Planet was announced back in September 2025, with early previews describing it as a blend of Animal Crossing and The Little Prince.
Impressions from a closed beta highlighted a charming, 'The Little Prince'-themed take on Animal Crossing: New Horizons with an emphasis on clear progression and multiplayer elements, which some players desired in ACNH.
The special update also revealed opportunities for players to score pre-registration prizes as well as a 'Launch a Planet' event on the game's official website that starts today.
