Prelaunch Sales Milestone
Phantom Blade Zero is on track to be a major success, with recent estimates indicating the action title has already surpassed 1 million copies sold prior to its release.
According to Rhys Elliott, head of market analysis at Alinea Analytics, an estimated 850,000 prelaunch copies were sold on Western platforms Steam and PS5. Additional sales through Tencent's WeGame platform in China pushed the overall figure past the 1 million milestone.
Regional Distribution and Development
Roughly three-quarters of the Western prelaunch sales came via Steam, while close to two-thirds of the total global sales originated from China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Developed by Chinese studio S-Game, the wuxia action game also features martial arts star Donnie Yen.
Revenue and Market Standing
The prelaunch figures have generated approximately $43 million in revenue, placing the title among the top 40 games of 2026 by revenue prior to launch. Analysts note that while it is unlikely to match the unprecedented sales velocity of Black Myth Wukong, it remains positioned for strong commercial performance.
For comparison, Game Science's Black Myth Wukong achieved 10 million sales within its first three days and has since exceeded 20 million copies sold.
Early critical reception has highlighted the game's fluid mechanics, memorable encounters, and distinctive combat style.
