The Storm Skin Controversy

Storm is one of a handful of female characters in Marvel Rivals with just one Legendary skin, and the pushback around this fact has become so great that even rapper Sexyy Red is speaking up about it.

Marvel Rivals recently published a statement outlining plans to improve moderation, which prompted rapper Sexyy Red to make a different kind of request.

In a quote-retweet, Sexyy Red directly asked the official Marvel Rivals account, “When y’all gon give Storm her legendary skin?”

Fans were surprised by Sexyy Red's involvement, with many joining her call for more Storm costumes from developers NetEase and Marvel Games.

Developer Response and Future Skins

The development teams are aware of the ongoing discussion regarding Storm’s Legendary skins, having acknowledged the issue in August. This followed the debut of Storm’s swimsuit skin, Sacred Skies, which was initially listed as an Epic.

Player feedback highlighted dismay that Sacred Skies was the only non-Legendary swimsuit skin among female characters. In response, the Marvel Rivals account announced the skin would be upgraded to Legendary for free.

The developers stated their commitment to fostering a positive community, acknowledging that upgrades would take time and asking for patience as they work to enhance the character.

While the upgrade is pending, rumors suggest another Legendary skin for Storm might be a Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls crossover, based on leaked character silhouettes.

Such a crossover would not be unprecedented, as other Marvel games have previously collaborated with Fighting Souls, including skins for Wolverine.

Broader Skin Discrepancies

Storm is not the only female character with a single Legendary skin; Jubilee, Black Widow, and Angela also share this limitation. Conversely, Emma Frost appears to have the most extensive collection, leading some fans to wish for more equitable distribution.
