Franchise Milestone
Massive Entertainment has announced that The Division series has recorded over 50 million players across its games, coinciding with the franchise's 10th anniversary.
The long-running looter shooter began in 2016 with the launch of The Division, following its initial reveal at Ubisoft's E3 2013 conference. The Division 2 followed in 2019, alongside several spinoffs over the years.
Massive Entertainment previously announced a new DLC for The Division 2 at Gamescom. The Echoes of Central Park DLC launches on November 3, introducing a horror-themed flashback campaign, increased stash space, and a level boost.
The Division 3 Development
Tom Clancy's The Division 3 is officially in production at Massive Entertainment. While the project was originally headed up by executive producer Julian Gerighty, leadership has transitioned to creative director Mathias Karlson.
Prior to his departure from Ubisoft to join DICE, Gerighty spoke about the upcoming sequel, noting that development was progressing on a major scale.
The development team at Massive emphasized that work on the project remains a priority and aims to have an impact comparable to the original game.
Following leadership changes, Massive reassured fans that development on The Division 3 continues with the core teams who built the franchise world.
A release window for The Division 3 has not yet been announced, but Ubisoft continues to focus resources on the franchise and its proprietary Snowdrop game engine.
